Our pediatric offices provide a multitude of services, including childhood exams. Our doctors are here today to discuss the physicals for your child with you and why we consider exams preventative health screenings. We want you to understand the value of regular physical visits for your child.

Understanding the Value of Regular Exams

Our Kissimmee, Orlando, and St. Cloud, FL doctors explain physicals. They say that as your child grows and develops, they hit specific milestones that require this exam. Milestones are markers in which your child is expected to meet new skills.

We monitor these milestone markers by meeting with you and your child, observing your child, doing an exam, and gaining your input on any concerns you may have about your child's development. We examine your child's physical, emotional, and behavioral characteristics. These milestone markers are a part of preventative care.

Milestone exams occur from birth to five years, so we strive to catch any impending health problems early and review the child's immunization record. We follow the CDC guidelines for exams.

  • Two/Four/Six/Nine/Twelve/Fifteen/and Eighteen months
  • Two/Two and a half/Three/Four/and Five years.

Three Types of Exams

We perform,

  • Milestone markers or well-child exams
  • School exams
  • Sports exams

While some exams may overlap to prevent unnecessary appointments, others are individualized and separate. Exams are our way to catch health problems early and start treatment as soon as possible. Exams are a time to review vaccinations and ensure your child is up-to-date with their immunizations.

Milestone Marker Exams:

School Exams:

Most schools require your child to have a physical before entering school to make sure your child is up to the daily grind of school. If your child has special needs, a school physical determines this need and refers you to the correct resources to help you and your child navigate everyday school life.

Sports Exams:

You cannot use a school or milestone exam for a sports exam. A sports exam is necessary to ensure your child can play sports and is not at risk for injury or health-related conditions such as diabetes/a heart condition/or asthma.
